Will It Blend? Traditional and Social Media

As a veteran PR counselor specializing in the creative marketing services space, I avidly track the evolution of media channels, especially the growing challenge that “social media” poses to “traditional media” for marketplace dominance.

When working to develop leadership positions for emerging companies an understanding of which media will most profoundly impact one’s reputation and positively influence prospective clients, is key. So a radical shift in the media landscape poses new… Continue

Pentagon Caught, uh, Promoting Its Interests

Take a look at Gotham Media member Eric Dezenhall's column in today's HuffPo. Dezenhall is the founder of DC based crisis management firm Dezenhall Resources

In what may mark the official demise of investigative journalism, a story "broke" online late last week revealing that the Pentagon was "profiling" reporters covering the war in Afghanistan. The piece… Continue

    JOB POSTINGS

    July 23, 2009

    Location: NYC

    1) Cameraperson to film events in Manhattan

Please send me an email listing what equipment you have (audio and video) and what you would charge to film about 10 events per month to start off with (August is the month I am aiming for). The average shoot lasts 1 hour, 2 hours tops.

This can certainly roll into regular work eventually, from 2006-2009, we shot and published an average of 100 clips per month, and now want to launch a NY hub. You do not need to edit anything, as we would handle all editing work out of our Montreal, Canada HQ.

=> For this position, please email jobs@watchmojo.com with subject line: NYC Cameraperson.

    2) Sales person with Agency Contacts in Manhattan

Historically, we've generated revenue from recurring monthly licensing fees from other media companies who want to feature out content on their site, we also have syndication deals where we share revenue with other media properties, but we're now looking for a sales person with good contacts in the agency world and with clients directly to generate branded content opportunities (product placement, integration, made-for-web ads, etc.).

We have a library of 5,000 videos we have shot. What we offer is unique in that we can:

    - produce and/or distribute video content.

    - offer all types of ad units (banners, pre-rolls, branded content) on the largest websites (YouTube, Hulu, MySpace, Facebook, etc.).

    - simplicity: sign an insertion order with a client and promote them across hundreds of destination points online (6.5M streams/month, growing 100% in 2 months and 350% in 12 months) as well as in the out-of-home market (20M consumers per month) in retail locations including gyms, coffee shops, bars, etc.

If you are interested in this position, please send me your salary expectations, resume, background, what you're doing now etc. If you are unemployed, that is not a problem.

=> For this position, please email ash@watchmojo.com with subject line: NYC Sales.
